The built environment is responsible for almost 40% of global carbon emissions. To achieve net zero carbon by 2050, direct emissions from buildings need to be halved by 2030 – only 10 years from now. As the public and private sectors race to decarbonize their building footprints, what role do digital technologies and automation play in unlocking the value of data to enable an impactful transition?
- Sustainability and digitalization has crept up the corporate agenda in recent years and many organizations are pursuing these goals independently. How do you see these two trends interacting with each other, especially in the building space?
- In the short term, digitalizing and decarbonizing buildings are seen as ‘nice-to-haves’ with limited immediate returns. Yet, they are proving to be essential in ensuring assets are not stranded the longer term. How can building owners/corporates make these priorities of today? What other levers are essential to the transformational equation?
- With 10 years to go to halve building emissions and digital innovations rapidly growing to address these goals, what are some game-changing technologies you foresee shaping this space?
