At Johnson Controls, sustainability is our business. We are focused on tackling climate change and are making bold new environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments to meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius climate goal. These include:

• Committing to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement.
• Setting science-based targets which includes reduction in our operational emissions by 55% and customers’ emissions by 16% by 2030.

Global commitments demand local action. In Singapore, Johnson Controls is collaborating with our partners to build a smart, resilient and sustainable future for the nation. 

Skills for the Future

• We are empowering the workforce to become more adept at technologies that drive the sustainability agenda.
  • In 2021, Johnson Controls partnered Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Skillsfuture Singapore to provide mid-career jobseekers with digital and smart facilities management skills. Find out more about this program here.
  • In 2020, Johnson Controls launched the OpenBlue Innovation Center in the National University of Singapore (NUS), with the support of the Economic Development Board, to pioneer smart and sustainable technologies for the built environment. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach, the Center collaborates with NUS to use the campus as a living laboratory, while engaging the larger built environment ecosystem to accelerate change.   • In 2018, Johnson Controls set up a training center, which houses the first fully functioning chiller plant system designed for a classroom setting, at the Institute of Technical Education College East Campus. The center enables students to gain authentic learning experience in a building management facility, and to have unprecedented access to live systems to experiment and operate in real-time. Better Ethics for Trustworthy AI

• We are all-in for shaping a trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) landscape. By supporting the AI Ethics movement in Singapore, Johnson Controls stands together with this industry-wide initiative to become more aware of ethical issues in the development and deployment of AI solutions. We are committed to sharing the understanding, knowledge and awareness of the need for ethics in our community and ecosystem.

Cutting Carbon Footprint

• We've achieved Zero Waste to Landfill certification in the Johnson Controls Singapore office, located at the International Business Park, in 2021.
• We are a recognized signatory of the Singapore Green Building Council's (SGBC) Embodied Carbon Pledge, committing to accelerate the decarbonization of the built environment sector by reducing embodied carbon in our projects.
